    Thanks Don. As luck would have it I had another motor with a encoder on it. This one uses the three terminal Hall Effect devices and seems to work mechanically as well.

      but did not have time to look further. The sensors from Allegro have amps built in, so you might be able to re[lace the whole circuit. Hall devices have two voltage and two current leads. You might not be able to find replacements for "raw" sensors since most of these devices now have built-in electronics. Hope this helps rather than confuses... :-)

        I am in bad need of a four terminal Hall Effect device. I broke the one I was using on one of the antenna positioning motors and cannot seem to find a replacement. All the ones I can find are three terminal. Making it worse is that IC is not marked so I don't even know the manufacture.
