You may also want to look at web services for instruments and use web
service workflow to link instruments to networks and databases.

Subject: SETI public: Remote SETI Language (RSL)
If you have been watching the development of the
<http://www.seti.net/SETINet/Engineering/Software/RemoteSETI/remote_seti.htm
> Remote SETI software you will know that I have had some success with the
antenna control and audio streaming prototypes. Now its time to put it in
gear. First step is to complete the semantics and syntax of the control
language between the clients and the server. I have decided to call this
language the Remote SETI Language (RSL).
Like the development of SML I plan to use the XML Spy tool to develop RSL
With XML Spy you can see a graphical representation of the language and
understand its operation much more easily than if you were looking at a
listing of a schema or a XML document and if your like me a graphical
representation is much easer to comprehend than the text it represents.
The reason I am telling you about XML Spy is that you can download a home
version, without cost, that will enable you to watch, or better yet,
participate in the development of RSL.
Download XML Spy at:
http://www.altova.com/download_spy_home.html
Its a challenge to understand this tool but worth it. Email me if you plan
to work on RSL with me...
regards......
