    SETIzens,
            It is with great sadness that I must tell you our dear friend and
    mentor Dr. Philip Morrison, W8FIS, passed away on Friday, April 22,
    2005, quietly at home. He was six months shy of his 90th birthday. I am
    told his home in Cambridge will be open on Saturday, 30 April, from noon
    to 5 PM, for those who wish to share in remembering him. If you knew
    Phil well enough to have been to his flat, I am sure you will be
    welcomed there by his son, Bert.
            I last spoke with Phil by telephone, right after my own father died in
    early March. I feel I have lost two father figures. In due course, I
    will be sharing my remembrances of Phil on The SETI League website.
