Reverie Radio Hour presents a 65th anniversary production of the Mercury
Theatre's radio broadcast of WAR OF THE WORLDS, live in concert, on
Thursday, September 30, 2003 at 8:00 PM. Reverie Productions' 5th
Anniversary Benefit Bash will take place immediately following the
performance. Event coordination for the benefit is by Someday
Productions. The radio play and benefit are at the Barrow Street Theatre
at Greenwich House, 27 Barrow Street (Corner of 7th Avenue South) for
    one night only.

WAR OF THE WORLDS will include an ensemble of actors featured in Reverie
Productions' first five seasons, including Steven Bradbury* and Carolyn
Baeumler* (SELF DEFENSE), Dan Hope and Nicole Poole* (DON'T PANIC!),
David Carson* (ONE-ACT WONDERS and BEOWULF), Erika Omundson* (DON'T
PANIC! and THE SHADOW), Kevin R. Free* (FACE VALUE) and Mitchell
    Greenberg* (AMERICAN MACCABEE).

The original radio broadcast of WAR OF THE WORLDS was made by Orson
Welles and the Mercury Theatre in 1938. The realistic description of a
Martian invasion caused mass hysteria and panic, when listeners believed
that the fictional program was an actual news broadcast. Even after
listeners realized that the broadcast was fictional, there was an
outpouring of stories about ìrealî alien encounters in the years
    following the broadcast.
