Summary For March 18-24
Space weather reached moderate levels. A series of coronal mass
ejections (CME) occurred during the period including one that caused
category G1 (minor) to G2 (moderate) geomagnetic storm conditions on
March 24. Isolated category R1 (minor) radio blackouts occurred on
March 18 - 19 and 22 and were sources for the CMEs mentioned above (the
sunspot group responsible for the CMEs rotated to the far side of the
Sun on March 22). Category S1 (minor) solar radiation storms occurred
on March 18 - 20 and 22 - 23. For a list of adverse system effects
related to space weather storms, please refer to the NOAA Space Weather
Scales.
Outlook For March 27-April 2
Space weather is expected to be at minor levels. Isolated category R1
(minor) radio blackouts are possible during the period. There is a
chance for brief category G1 (minor) geomagnetic storm conditions on
April 2 due to an expected increase in solar wind velocities. No solar
radiation storms are expected during the period.
