Reading the concern about Gamma ray bursters I decided to give my first post to this seti list. Gamma ray bursts have been detected since 1975 (approx) and most of these bursters are measured to be 5 billion light years plus away which indicates that they are a phenominon associated with the early formation of galaxies and as such there is no need for concern that a GRB may erupt in our own galaxy.
