The downside of our power to evolve technologically and intellectually is that
our children are born ever more immature in order that their huge skulls escape
the exit ramp. Eventually, the choice may be made to have all children raised
in laboratories for part or all of their gestation. Check your local hospital
to see how many there are now. These are survivors who wouldn't have just a
generation ago and will add to the gene pool now.
When the next major earth catastrophe occurs, it will then be the species that
are most adapted physically to their natural surroundings (again) that survive.
