SETI IAU Bioastronomy Conference

If some care is used in reading the conference announcement, it will be noted
that SETI is never mentioned. Instead we find the terms ' search for
extraterrestrial technologies and life'.

SETI is incapable of detecting extraterrestrial technologies. And the search
for extraterrestrial life is far more encompassing than the subset of SETI.

Shall we see a mere handful of SETI talks ( no doubt made into posters, like
a kid's science fair) at this meeting? Why does NASA's astrobiology
initiative--which excludes SETI-- dominate an international scientific
conference?

Think about it...
