I don't know what your problem is here, Chip. I've already conceded that
the figure of merit for OSETI is low, OK? I don't think that is a reason
to abandon the experiment. If we're only going to do those experiments
with a high probability of success, then we shouldn't be doing SETI at all.
And now, someone else is going to have to continue this argument with you,
or your're going to have to talk to yourself. This whole conversation is
wasting our members' dues dollars. I'm being paid to conduct a search, not

I do not have a problem Paul; the issue is figure of merit. I see you do
indeed agree that the firgure of merit of OSETI is low. You did not say this
previously.
I will not deny someone the opportunity to explore low figure of merit
searches; the issue is whether--scientifically-- they have validity.
I would welcome any comments on why that answer is anything but 'no'.
