Because *somebody* out there just might be using lasers, advantages
notwithstanding! I sure wouldn't want to miss the smoke signal just
because we think it has no "advantage."
Note I'm not saying that THEY *should* use lasers, only that they *might*,
and if so, we are beginning to have the technology to detect them.
