Oh, I get it -- we were saying the same thing, Chip! I was speaking in
favor of *Circular* polarization modulation, while you were speaking
against *linear* polarization modulation. Sorry -- I read the original
post too quickly to realize the question dealt with *linear* polarization
exclusively.
You're right, that the proposal as phrased wouldn't work. But by extension
to CP, polarization modulation makes good sense.
