"Meat" is indeed Terry Bisson's work, and appears in his 1994 book "Bears
Discover Fire and Other Stories" (Tor). It is also posted to The SETI
League website by permission (Terry is a SETI League member) linked under
Publications / Fiction. Terry complained to me a couple of years ago that
this work has been plastered all over the Internet, and posted to multiple
Usenet groups, *without* attribution or persmission. Anyone forwarding the
story in an email is technically violating Terry's copyright.
