This is hopefully going to be software selectable. Even only 2-4 bits may be
enough for seti work. But we may as well allow people up to 16 bits as a
software setting, since the soundcards support it. And then we will allow
people to discover on their own that the tradeoff for bits might be bandwidth,
and they might choose wider bandwidth, and less bits. And there might be some
applications for more bits, such as digital signal processing to demodulate a
potential hit.
