I'm afraid I dropped a few steps here. What I was saying is that shortwave
broadcast transmitters have the characteristics of a frequency diversity
system, but domestic receivers don't work in the way that a professional
frequency diversity receiver would operate, in that they require manual
retuning, which tends only to be done for slow variations, not to find
the current peak of the fading cycle.
