Indeed.. In fact, I used something similar in the SETI-game that
I created, The Arcturus Project. If you haven't seen it, feel free
to hop over to http://www.necrobones.com/seti/arcturus and give it
a shot.. It's a fictitious alien signal that allows you to try
your hand at some decoding.
