I can't speak for this group, but I can speak for myself. I'll sum it
for you in one sentence:
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. "
The propenent of this hit *must* provide evidence to support his
claim. It is not up to the scientific community to prove that he is
wrong (nor is it an easy or in some cases possible task), its up to him
to prove that he is right.
If this is a real hit, then where is the evidence to that effect? So
far, everyone else in the SETI community that I know of has said the
evidence is a hoax.
