The only thing close to independent verification that I've personally
found any evidence of was a web page describing Project Phoenix having
found a very similar signal coming from the direction of EQ Pegasi, but
eventually they discarded it because it failed to stand up to one of
their tests (I don't remember which test, but it did stand up to the
off-axis test)... Of course, this was some time before the current

(I apologize if I'm repeating information already mentioned here;
I've been off this list for quite some time and just jumped back
into it)
