Here are some Web sites on Space Settlements to give you a better
idea as to whether they can work or not:

As for social problems, check out Robert Heinlein's classic SF
novel, Orphans of the Sky. A multigenerational starship society
has no idea it is on a giant ship and believes their world is the
entire universe. I know there are related stories on this subject,
but titles and authors do not come to mind a the moment.

I just went to a Science-Fiction Conference here in Israel and I went to
a Panel discusson about the Habitat program.

To whoever doesn't know, that Habitat is an idea of sending a big ship to
space, out of the solar system, with a whole community in it (am I wrong,
anybody?). The Spaceship will have a destiny (probably Alpha Centuari, or
another "close" star), and it will go in space for decades & decades. The
Habitat idea could be used in cases of disasters, something like Noahs

There are a LOT of problems which come up when thinking about the
Habitat, which include techonolgy, Socialogical problems, population
density, law inforcement etc.

I don't think this Idea can be reality. What do you think?
