It seems to be that our Sun is located on a short arm called the Orion arm.
Regarding to what we see, there are two arms that we "see". During the
summer months we see at the Sagittarius arm, the portion of the Milky Way
which extends from Sagittarius to Scorpius. By winter, looking away from
the galactic center, we see at the Perseus arm.
