                      Greetings,

Associated Press Story on Center for Inquiry
This past weekend an excellent story by Associated Press journalist Carolyn Thompson hit major newspapers across the United States and around the world. Headlined "Center to Boost Science Appreciation: Center for Inquiry Aims to Improve Public's Appreciation of Science," Thompson's story covered the Center's ambitious expansion plans and its critical mission to improve the public's appreciation of science and reason.

Thompson quotes CFI Chairman Paul Kurtz:

"...as the center undertakes a major expansion, there is a special focus on getting people to appreciate a scientific outlook, said chairman Paul Kurtz. The center hopes to raise $26 million in the next four years to add on to its suburban Buffalo world headquarters.

"'The United States is the leading scientific and technological power on the planet, with amazing breakthroughs, yet the general public is basically illiterate about science,' said Kurtz, 78."

The story appeared in the the Washington Post, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Los Angeles Times, NY Newsday, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and 50 other major papers in the US, Canada, and South Africa.
