The Planetary Society's 2004 SETI Symposium
at Harvard University
August 7, 2004

Humanity is now engaged in one of the most remarkable
quests in its history -- the search for extraterrestrial
intelligence (SETI). The Planetary Society is gathering
together a group of the greatest SETI experts and
researchers on Earth to examine our progress so far,
from what we have or have not discovered, the technology
of the search, to the next steps in the quest.

On August 7, you will have your chance to meet the
experts, ask questions, and spend a day exploring one
of the most profound questions humanity has ever
attempted to answer: Are we alone in the universe?

Included among the speakers will be Frank Drake,
SETI pioneer and creator of the Drake Equation;
Paul Horowitz, who has headed one of the longest
continuous SETI searches; Dan Werthimer, one of the
SETI@ Home founders; Geoff Marcy, extrasolar planet
discoverer extraordinaire; Guillermo Lemarchand,
searching the southern sky; and astrobiologist
Woody Sullivan.

At the event, Geoff Marcy will announce and
discuss the discovery of several new extrasolar
planets.

Planetary Society Chairman, Bruce Murray,
and Planetary Society Director of Projects,
Bruce Betts will moderate the event.
