Fuller Commemorative Stamp! Stamps will be available in all
BUCKMINSTER FULLER COMMEMORATIVE STAMP
Next Monday, July 12th, Bucky's Birthday, the U.S. Postal Service
will be releasing a special commemorative Buckminster Fuller
stamp to honor Fuller on the 50th anniversary of his patent for
the geodesic dome.
Each stamp released by the Postal Service is marked by an official
first day of issue ceremony. The location chosen as the official
first-day city for the Fuller stamp’s historic public event--and the
only location in the United States where sales of the stamp take
place that day--will be Stanford University, California, home of
the Buckminster Fuller Archives (see details below). First day of
issue ceremonies are colorful and inspiring events that are free
to the public and highlight the subject matter featured on the
stamp design.
BFI will be hosting a stamp celebration on July 15th at the American
Institute of Architecture in Manhattan, NY and events are also being
organized in Carbondale, Illinois; San Diego, California; Rockland,
Maine; and St. Louis, Missouri (see details below)!

STANFORD, California, Monday, July 12:
For the Fuller commemorative stamp, the first day of issue ceremony
will take place at the Cubberley Auditorium at Stanford University,
California, home of the Buckminster Fuller Archives, on Fuller’s
birthday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. The event is free and open to the
public and we hope many of you can join us there to celebrate the
release of this beautiful stamp!

CARBONDALE, Illinois, Tuesday, July 13:
RBF Dome NFP will be holding a "second day issue" event at the Fuller
Dome Home. From 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Fuller Dome Home will
become an honorary postal station known as "Bucky's Dome Station"
and will offer the Fuller commemorative stamp along with the
availability of the special pictorial cancellation. Lunch will be

ROCKLAND, Maine, Tuesday, July 13:
The Farnsworth Museum will have a joint celebration of the Fuller stamp
and the new stamp series of Isamu Noguchi, long-time closer friend of
Bucky’s. The Stamp Dedication Ceremony will be held at their library at
noon and a special stamp cancellations from the “Farnsworth Art Museum
R. Buckminster Fuller and Isamu Noguchi Station” will be offered from
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a special pictorial cancellation. The
Farnsworth Art Museum will also have the Noguchi chrome-nickel-steel

SAN DIEGO, California, Tuesday, July 13:
The Global Energy Network Institute (GENI) is coordinating a second day
launch event of the stamp along with a World Resources Demonstration
on Bucky's 70-foot Dymaxion Map. The free public event will include
Fuller’s readings, videos and artifacts for sale and will take place at
Horton Square across from the San Diego Lyceum Theater in Broadway
Circle from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The official stamp presentation and

ST. LOUIS, Missouri, Wednesday, July 14:
The Climatron®, Bucky’s glass garden dome, which is part of the Missouri
Botanical Garden, opened in 1960 and was the first geodesic dome to be
used as a conservatory. The Stamp Dedication Ceremony begins at
11 a.m. outdoors near the Climatron®. Special edition envelopes and a
cancellation featuring the Climatron® will be available at the Garden
Gate Shop from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Open to the public and included
with Garden admission or membership.

NEW YORK, New York, Thursday, July 15:
The Buckminster Fuller Institute (BFI) in collaboration with the USPS
New York City is hosting a stamp release celebration and special
New York cancellation. Event and luncheon held from 11:30 a.m.
to 2:00 p.m. Special remarks will be made by the New York city
postmaster and BFI Board President Joshua Arnow. Our special
guest speaker will be Jonathan J. Marvel, Director for programs and
strategic planning at the AIA New York chapter, Principal at Rogers
and Marvel architecture firm, and great-nephew of Bucky.
A range of stamp-related items will be available for purchase as well
as memberships to the BFI. Suggested entry fee donation is $20,
