FIRES ACROSS THE LLANOS
Biomass burning has been particularly intense in northern South America in recent months. This new Terra MOPITT image shows the high concentrations of carbon monoxide--from Feb. 27 to March 4, 2003--produced by the fires.

BUSHFIRES RAGING IN SOUTHEAST AUSTRALIA
