TROPICAL CYCLONE ZOE
As of December 30, 2002, Tropical Cyclone Zoe was listed as a Category 5 storm, located northeast of Vanuatu in the South Pacific Ocean.

ERUPTION OF SICILY’S MT. ETNA
Sicily's Mt. Etna began erupting on Oct. 27, and two months later is still emitting a plume of ash and smoke. This most recent MODIS image was captured on Dec. 30.

ERUPTION OF STROMBOLI VOLCANO, ITALY
The Stromboli Volcano, Italy, has been increasingly active since May 2002. On Dec. 28, 2002, a lava flow emerged from a crater on the volcano's northeast crater, while a relatively small plume of ash and steam is seen flowing from fissure.
