    Catching up to a Comet

On January 2, 2004, a spacecraft named Stardust will fly through the coma of Comet Wild
    2. The coma is the cloudy part of a comet that surrounds the nucleus, or center. Studying
particles from a coma could teach us a lot about the history of the solar system.
Stardust will collect comet particles from the coma for return to Earth in 2006.You can
read more about comets and play the "Tails of Wonder" comet trivia game at the Space
    Place web site.
