SPACE WEATHER ADVISORY OUTLOOK #02- 46
2002 November 12 at 01:20 p.m. MST (2002 November 12 2020 UTC)
**** SPACE WEATHER OUTLOOK ****
Summary For November 4-10
Space weather reached moderate levels. A category R1 (minor) radio
blackout occurred at 6:23 A.M MST (1323 UTC) on November 9th due to an
energetic solar flare on the sun. This solar flare also produced a
category S2 (moderate) solar radiation storm that started at 12:20 P.M.
MST (1220 UTC) on November 9th and ended at 10:25 P.M. MST on November
10th (11/0525 UTC). A brief period of category G1 (minor) geomagnetic
storms occurred early on November 10th. For a list of adverse system
effects related to space weather storms, please refer to the NOAA Space
Weather Scales.
Outlook For November 13-19
Space weather is expected to reach the minor levels. A category R1
(minor) radio blackout is possible during the week. Category G1
(minor) geomagnetic storms are possible on November 13th due to effects
from the R1 flare that occurred on November 9th. Category G1 storms
are also possible on November 15-17th due to fast solar wind emanating
from a coronal hole.
