Meteorite search narrows

Fireball's remnants likely in Saguache

Denver researchers have narrowed the search for meteorites that may have
been left behind by the blazing fireball that exploded over southern
Colorado in August.

Astronomers and geologists from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science will
scour the rugged Saguache County countryside next spring in a hunt for
basketball-sized chunks of the space rock.

They will focus on a 10-square-mile search zone southeast of Gunnison, and
they admit that the chances of success are low.
